Starla Lowery serves as our receptionist. An interest in health and wellness brought her to Alabama Functional Medicine, first as a patient, then as a team member. She has a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education. Prior to coming to work at Alabama Functional Medicine, she enjoyed a 29-year career as an elementary school teacher. She chose to work in Functional Medicine because she finds it so rewarding to support Dr. McWhorter and the rest of the clinical team as they endeavor to find the root cause of illness to help patients achieve optimum health.

When not working, you’ll most likely find Starla spending time with her family. She and her husband, John, are empty nesters. Their only child, Ben, is in school at Auburn University. War Eagle! She loves spending time near the water, whether it is a pool, lake, or beach!  During the cooler months, she prefers curling up with a good book by the fire.
